AnnaB Custom Leatherworks was established in 2016 and is quickly becoming known for its unique style in the art of custom leather carving. My work can be seen from coast to coast. I create my own patterns and designs, as well as working with clients to create one of a kind artwork.
I first became fascinated by the art of leather working when I was in high school. I quickly started learning to tool leather while amassing a large collection of tools, books and patterns. After high school I headed to college for a career in Equine Genetics – only to quickly realize that I was in over my head! After a summer to clear my thoughts and find direction, I headed to San Diego to apprentice to a Saddle Maker and learn the art of making things (including saddles). After becoming a "master" in the trade, I opened my own shop and within a few short years I realized I really needed to learn more about business.
I returned to school and received a BS in Accounting, followed by an MBA, which led me to a career in Corporate America for the next 25 years. I really wish someone had told me I could have gone to art school.
Only after being laid off, and with the gentle nudging of my very supportive husband, did I decide to pursue my first love again – focusing on creating limited edition and custom fine tooled leather designs for people, their pets and homes. Good thing I kept that large collection of tools, books and patterns with me as I moved throughout the years.
